Presnyakov Vodka: A Simple Yet Elegant Design

A Blend of Organic and Modern Design

When you walk down the liquor aisle in a store, vodka dominates a massive section, and it is filled with some of the best bottle designs out there. However, Joshua Ribbeck, the designer behind Presnyakov Vodka, wanted to create a bottle that was not only simple yet elegant but also stood out from the rest. The result is a design that seamlessly blends organic and modern elements, capturing the attention of consumers.

The outer appearance of the Presnyakov Vodka bottle is tall and slim, exuding a sense of sophistication. But what sets it apart is the inner liquid chamber, designed to resemble smooth ice. This wavy look gives the bottle a unique and eye-catching appearance, as if the ice is melting within. The use of low iron glass enhances the clarity of the bottle, making it stand out from typical glass bottles.

One of the standout features of the design is the recessed glass corner, which is frosted to create a subtle glint when light refracts and bounces through the bottle. This adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the overall design. The corner is made of tinted red glass, which catches the consumer's attention without overpowering the entire look. Depending on the lighting, the red glass changes from dark to light, creating an intriguing effect that highlights the brand name, PRESNYAKOV.

The bottle cap is made of brushed metal, resembling old Russian iron, further adding to the design's connection with Russia. The packaging of Presnyakov Vodka is equally impressive, with the exterior wrapped in Fibermark Touche, featuring red and silver foil stamping. The interior of the packaging is printed in red, creating a cohesive and visually appealing presentation.

The design process for Presnyakov Vodka took around 13 months, with Joshua Ribbeck exchanging concepts and ideas with the brand owners, Igor and Svjatoslav Presnyankov, in Amsterdam. The goal was to create a bottle and packaging that would capture the consumer's attention while maintaining a simple and elegant aesthetic. The result is a design that not only meets these objectives but also stands out in the crowded vodka market.

Presnyakov Vodka's exceptional design was recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2015. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design of Presnyakov Vodka showcases a deep understanding of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world of packaging design.
